Can You Tell Amy’s Overloaded?

So this week’s entry is an audience participation one, or otherwise known as “Amy’s Got Way Too Much On Her Plate To Produce A Thoughtful Entry, Give Her Another Week And Maybe Then I Can String A Hilarious Turn Of Phrase.”

This one’s a two parter:

1. Can anyone tell me why it is that dogs bury bones, and then dig them back up again, then bury them again, then dig them back up again?
2. Can anyone tell me if there’s a suitable Bible metaphor that would say the same thing? ‘Cause the guy who had the talents just buried it once, as far as I know.

Sigh. Sorry I’m such a bloggin’ loser. But at least I meet my deadlines!

I think you may have just invented a new expletive! Bloggin' great job!

I don't know if I can help you with the Bible metaphor thing too much. You may have just stumbled upon a new proverb similar to the whole "As a dog returns to its own vomit, so a fool returns to his folly."

Maybe:
"As a dog buries and digs up the same bone over and over, so a fool digs up old arguments."

Something like that.

Our girls never bury bones, but Ebony has dug up plenty of things...including an authentic sea shell that she found buried in our backyard in Illinois five years ago. She still keeps it around the house so she can roll it around in her mouth from time to time. She has actually dissolved holes in it!

Freak.

Ooooh! The "God Is Patient I Am Not" play-at-home game!

Dogs bury bones because they don't need to go in the fridge. I'm surprised you didn't know that...

I don't know any dog proverbs or "dog-verbs", so I can't help you there.

Given the whole bone thing and all those pictures on your previous post, I think the dog mind is either way too smart or way too dumb for me to figure out.
